Muddy Paws Rescue Receives $20,000 Grant from ASPCA® to Support Relocation and Placement Initiative

New York, NEW YORK — Muddy Paws Rescue (MPR) has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to support their Relocation and Placement Initiative. The grant will help Muddy Paws Rescue fund essential lifesaving services by increasing its capacity to accept animals in need of adoption, place them in foster care, expand behavioral support for the dogs currently in its care, and provide additional training to the organization’s dedicated fosters and volunteers in support of dogs that will enter its program over the next 12 months.

More specifically, the award will help propel MPR to the forefront of the community-based lifesaving movement, by allowing for new training partnerships to better prepare its dogs for adoption, and by providing additional webinars as well as hands-on, in-person trainings at its Pack HQ for fosters and adopters alike.

“Muddy Paws is grateful to the ASPCA for these generous funds that will allow us to expand our lifesaving efforts in 2022,” said Mallory Kerley, Marketing Director for Muddy Paws Rescue. “This support of our programmatic and operational work is critical in our ability to provide our fosters and volunteers with everything they need to be successful, so we can continue to help 1,000 pups each year.”

“Relocating animals impacted by disasters and those animals with special medical or behavioral needs is a vital step in saving more animal lives,” said Lou Guyton, Vice President of the ASPCA Relocation and Placement Team. “The ASPCA is proud to partner with and support Muddy Paws Rescue in their goals to increase foster care capacity and expand behavioral training to ensure all animals, regardless of their previous situation, have the opportunity to find safe, loving homes.”

Two examples of new initiatives that will benefit from the grant are a pilot program to ease one of its longest-standing challenges as a foster-based rescue: Identifying immediate placement with a qualified caretaker for dogs in custody who, for safety reasons, cannot remain with their current foster parent, and an on-demand “gamified” education for our foster parents and volunteers that makes training modules available through an integrated Learning Management System.
