Founding Executive Director
Rachael took a roundabout road to get to the wild world of animal welfare, and now couldn’t imagine her life any differently. A dog lover and musician since a young age, Rachael began her career as a public school music teacher and moved to NYC to conduct and play piano on Broadway, working shows such as Wicked, First Date, and the revival of Side Show. While freelancing, Rachael began to spend her free time fostering dogs, and the rest is history! Along with a dedicated group of volunteers, Rachael founded Muddy Paws Rescue in 2015 and continues to be swept away by the outpouring of support for and belief in the Muddy Paws Pack. Rachael resides in Queens with her ornery old lady dog Bailey and her friendly Muddy Paws pit bull alum Shyla. She continues to foster large adult dogs, and loves running into so many Muddy Paws Pack members, both two- and four-footed, on the streets of NYC!
Adoptions Program Director
After completing her Masters in Animals and Public Policy at Tufts University, Amanda moved to NYC and worked at one of the largest open-admissions animal shelters in the country. Amanda is also a pet parent to her cat, chinchilla, and Muddy Paws pup, Lucy. As the Adoptions Director, Amanda oversees our entire adoption process and ensures each of our pups are matched perfectly with their forever families.
After studying journalism at the University of Iowa, Lisa pursued a career in grant writing and adopted her now, 9-year old pup, Chloe, and long dreamed of finding a way to join her experience in fundraising with a love for animals and joined the team in early 2019. Lisa is super excited to talk to you about all the ways that your support can help change the lives of homeless pets in NYC.
Originally from Australia, Anna made the switch from advertising to animal welfare after adopting her own pup, Peggy, from Muddy Paws and volunteering with them for two years. As Marketing Director, Anna spearheads our rescue partnerships, runs our social, media appearances and works with the wider team to expand foster, adoption, and volunteer programs, among many other things!
Foster Program Manager
Juliette has always dedicated her life to animals. After completing her degree in Animal Sciences at Purdue University, Juliette started working full time in animal welfare. As the Foster Program Manager, she believes fostering is the future and is determined to maximize our foster program to save as many lives as possible. Having 2 rescue cats and her own Muddy Paws pup, she often fosters puppies and spends her free time playing golf, practicing and teaching figure skating.
Events & Volunteer Program Manager
After years of volunteering with various rescue groups and working in a dog boarding facility, Erika began working in animal welfare in San Diego County. Erika has always been passionate about sharing the love she has for animals with other people and showing them how incredible the animal-human connection can truly be. As the Events & Volunteer Program Manager, she is looking forward to helping adopters and volunteers discover this joy. She currently resides in Brooklyn with her rescued Pit Bull mix, Opal.
Lucy had an eight year career in fashion until her volunteering with animals completely took over almost two years ago and she has never looked back. After volunteering for a few years doing Trap, Neuter, Return in Miami, she started her animal welfare career at the New York City shelter, then a year at Best Friends Animal Society before joining Muddy Paws Rescue. She lives in the East Village with her dog, Grace, two cats and typically a foster or two.
