The only thing better than a pup is their picture, right?

We recently partnered with Simon Baruch Junior High (MS 104) in Manhattan for an adorable art project: capturing some of our furry friends who are available for adoption!

Due to the pandemic, the students at MS104 finished out their school year with remote learning. After completing an art project with local nonprofit organization SAGE—which works to improve the lives of older members of the LGBTQ community—their incredible art teacher Peter reached out to MPR in an effort to come up with creative projects that would continue to encourage students to think about their community.

Peter realized that the project with SAGE had a huge impact on the kids and wanted to find other ways to merge artistic learning with community involvement. Like most kids, Peter’s students love dogs! He knew they would enjoy drawing our adorable pups while learning about animal welfare.

After gaining an understanding of where our dogs come from, the students began drawing portraits of Muddy Paws alumni and current fosters! At the conclusion of the project, the students were pleased to know that we will be sending their drawings to our monthly donors to thank them for helping us feed our pups and pay for veterinary care.

Click through some of their wonderful pup portraits below:

Thank you to all the students at MS104! Great work!
