Midnight is Team Lifesaving

Last October, we got a call from New York City Animal Care Centers about an 8-year old, blocky-headed dog who had been brought in as a stray. Midnight was heartworm positive, but her sweet demeanor and hopeful eyes stole our hearts and we knew we could help her recover in a loving foster home until she was ready for a family of her own.

At first, Midnight's treatment was progressing normally, but after just a few weeks, we found out that she was diabetic after she went in to ketoacidosis—a serious complication that can be life-threatening. The severity of this new condition combined with her ongoing heartworm treatment meant she needed to be rushed to emergency care. Thankfully, our friends at Animal Medical Center helped her recover so that she could be discharged back to her foster home, where we would just need to monitor her glucose levels and administer insulin going forward.

To date, the cost of Midnight's care has exceeded $15,000.

Midnight has been getting the best medical care, and all the love in the world during her time with us, but now it's time for her to find her forever family. We think she's waited long enough!

The Pack Challenge is underway, and we've raised more than $30,000 of our $75,000 goal for dogs in our care just like Midnight. With a gift from you, we can continue to give Midnight the medical care she needs, and provide support to our pups when they experience unexpected medical emergencies or costly ongoing treatments.

These days, Midnight is heartworm free, and living life without letting diabetes slow her down. She enjoys lounging about in her favorite ducky pajamas, taking strolls around the Queens streets as if she's been walking the same route her whole life, and harmonizing with the passing sirens outside.

Your gift to the Pack Challenge allows us to provide fosters with everything they need to care for dogs like Midnight. Thank you for your support!
